Here's a cool topic! The article linked here summarizes some studies mentioned in a book called Self-Insight: Roadblocks and Detours on the Path to Knowing Thyself (Essays in Social Psychology), by David Dunning. (Yeah, that's a little he-said-she-said, but hey, I've gotta give credit where it's due!)

At any rate, in his book, Dunning told of studies that show that sending a positive reflection of self to people is the most effective way to promote "right" action.

Let me give you an example from The Happiness Project's article (since I don't have the book), to make this theory clear:

The study "compared two classrooms of fifth graders. One class received several messages about the importance of not littering. The other class was told that it was a very neat and tidy class – the janitor told the class they were neatest class in the school, the teacher remarked on it, etc. It turns out that the second approach was much more effective in prompting the children not to litter."

This was the passage that got me to thinking: "When we're reminded of what we're doing right, and when we realize that right action is noticed and appreciated...we're encouraged to keep it up."

I personally have been utilizing this technique with my family for years, though of course not 100% of the time. Let me tell you, things go a lot more smoothly when you focus on how helpful your kids are being rather than on how slow they're moving!

I wanted to open this to you, though. Is this manipulation? Is this forcing something on people - a belief you hold that you want to push on them? Or is it simply framing someone's best qualities (or their potential) and presenting it to them as an option?

What are your thoughts?

And here's another idea. If you were to practice this habit with yourself, what would you say to YOU?

How's your intuition? What?! You think you don't have intuition? Ah, tsk tsk, my friend. We all have intuition... you just might not be listening.

Call it intuition, instinct, insight, a hunch, a sixth sense, or simply listening to your gut.  Hell, call it "spidey sense" if you want. It's not just the realm of psychics or women (ah, the infamous "women's intuition"). There's no need for a turban and crystal ball. We all get those Feelings, a sudden knowing without knowing how. It's a matter of realizing it.

Intuition is defined as knowing or sensing something without having a rational basis for that knowledge and without effort. Sometimes explained as "supernatural", intuition actually has been studied numerous times by scientists and psychologists. In fact, many people attribute scientific innovation to intuition; in other

This blog won't always be Elfpath-centric in that "sign-up, join us!" kind of way. It's just not that kind of blog. But from time to time, I'll share some insight from my journey, or other Elfpath members may come and talk about things that have impacted them in a way they want to share.

I thought I'd tell you a bit about what I learned in the first month of Elfpath studies and why I think Elfpath can be of universal benefit.

First, let me tell you a bit about me. I was raised with an organized religion, Catholicism, and even attended parochial school from first grade through high school. Talk about indoctrination! That was never a good fit. Some of it I took with me, but much was left behind. Ditto my experiences with philosophy, "self-help" books, Wicca, the Celts. I liked a little from everything, but all of nothing, and adapted the things that fit into my personal spirituality. Native American religions and philosophies intrigued me, but then again so did Hinduism, Buddhism, and the beliefs of the ancient Greeks. I also dabbled in "New Age" topics, though will never be a fan of New Age music, nor will I ever fully dive into the culture surrounding so many things deemed "New Age". Yoga gained popularity, and I tried it. I liked it! I attempted meditation, but could never focus enough to consider myself One Who Meditates.

I read The Secret and tried to put it to work (some good results, some non-results).  I believe in a life after this one, but I also believe I have lived before and will live again. There are ghosts here on earth, who haven't moved on - I know this because I have seen them. I feel the energy in the earth when I lie on the grass and watch the clouds move. I feel a bond with the other people I meet, even the ones I am not certain I like too much. Animals are special to me, and I think they have souls or spirits or... something.

Basically, I am someone who is always searching and growing, and I like it that way! I believe, most of all, in being true to myself and acting accordingly.

When I was introduced to Elfpath I read what they were teaching and thought, "what do I have to lose?" Indeed. What is there to lose? But after just a month, so much had been gained!

Welcome! Grab a cup of tea and pull up a chair. Make yourself comfortable! We are glad to have you here with us on Elfpath's official blog.

You may be here because you're already a part of the Elfpath community, or you may be stopping by because someone directed you to us. In either of those cases, you are probably familiar with the Elfpath concept. But others of you may have just stumbled upon us while surfing the web - and if that's the case, we want to point out that there are no coincidences. You're here because we have things to share with you... and you have things to share with us!

You may be asking yourself...

First and foremost, Elfpath is a school, a place where we teach you a process to open up your own intuition and deal with problems in your life. We offer you a chance to develop your meta-intuitive skills (yes, you have them too, and you can learn to use them effectively), access to a lot of teachers and fellow students to help you as you go along, as well as learning materials and classmates to have fun with.

Our vision is to create a worldwide intuitive organization that works together in waking people up. We want to offer everyone in this world a clear process to heal themselves and the people around them, to truly be who they came here to be, and to be more successful on their personal as well as career paths. It is our belief that if enough people around the world can learn to use their intuition again, can sense and shape energy and live their lives in harmony with who they really are, the world itself will have to change. We want that change. Soon.

You can learn a lot more about Elfpath by clicking on the tabs at the top of the screen or by visiting us directly at Elfpath.com.

Welcome to the Elfpath community. This is our blog. But more importantly, this is your blog. We look forward to getting to know you!
